Adopt a Dog
Welcome to the adoption process at Koastal Dog Rescue!
Do you feel you fill the requirements for adopting one of our available dogs? If yes, please get started on the application form below. Give yourself some time to complete the form as it is quite detailed. The more information we have, the better we can assure that the dog you are interested in will be a good fit for your situation.
I strive to keep communication open with potential adopters and will always advise when an adoption is processed and completed, so as not to leave you wondering where things stand. I hear feedback that this can be the most frustrating part of adopting, so I will always try to inform those who apply for a particular dog.
HOW TO APPLY:
1) Please fill out this google form application: KDR Online Adoption Application. We will then send you a link to book a time for an interview. Please check your junk mail folder if you have not received an invitation to book an interview time within 48 hours of applying.
2) We will have a video interview with you to discuss your application in detail and talk about the next steps.
3) Once your application is approved, we’ll create a Facebook chat group with the rescuer where updates and travel plans for your dog are shared.
4) You meet your new dog at Vancouver International Airport!
5) Ongoing support for your dog and family is crucial during this time, so Koastal Dog Rescue will continue to assist as your dog transitions to it’s new home.
ADOPTION FEES:
Our adoption cost is $700 plus arrival cost at Vancouver Airport of approx $50
The cost covers the following:
Flight cost / Crate cost / Vaccinations / Departure inspection fee / Neutering / Microchip inserted / Transport to Seoul Airport for departure.
Of course the dog has also been cared for since rescue, fed, housed, medical care etc. as needed.
SAFETY FIRST: Since having a few dogs “escape” last year we have a new requirement that ALL dogs adopted through Koastal are fitted with a tracking device. If the dog is to be homed in a rural area a GPS tracker will be required, as will any dog that goes hiking, camping, boating etc.
Dogs adopted in Urban areas and not going on adventures can use an Apple air tag or an equivalent tracker for android phones.
This requirement will be discussed during your interview.
BE A TRAVEL BUDDY!
